Michigan has approved state funding to support Albion’s downtown revitalization through the Big Albion Plan, a $9.4 million project focused on redeveloping nine properties. The project will create 20 residential units, more than 10,000 square feet of commercial space, and eight full-time jobs. Supported by the Michigan Strategic Fund and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the initiative aims to attract new businesses, encourage investment, and strengthen the local economy. The revitalization is also expected to expand experiential learning opportunities for Albion College students through potential internships, apprenticeships, and partnerships with downtown businesses.
